"Did the Exodus Happen and Does It Matter?"

The Exodus from Egypt is the foundational story of the Old Testament, but outside of the Bible there is no direct evidence that it actually happened. Yet some scholars contend that even though it may not have happened in space and time, the exodus is a powerful story of God’s rescue of his people. Did the exodus happen? Does it matter? We will also consider the question of divine violence as God uses the Red Sea to kill the Egyptian army. How can a God of love be a God of anger? Dr. Tremper Longman is an Old Testament scholar, theologian, professor and author.
