More About Rev. Katie Francis
The Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (APNC) is delighted to introduce you to Rev. Katie Francis!
Katie has worked as a specialized minister in pastoral care for over a decade. She has substantial experience in hospital chaplaincy, hospice chaplaincy, and ministry to college students, in addition to serving Presbyterian churches everywhere her path has taken her.
Katie’s passion in ministry is bringing the comfort of Christ to those who are in need. She is a native of Richmond, VA, who was nurtured in St. Giles Presbyterian Church. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, where she made a commitment to Christ.
Following college, Katie joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM) as a missionary to Kyrgyzstan for two years. She then began her seminary education at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, finishing her M.Div. at Princeton Theological Seminary in 2010.
Katie and her husband John have three children, Wren (8), Cedar (7), and Ozette (4). They are coming to us from California, where they have spent a brief sojourn for John’s work as a film editor and writer, while attending La Canada Presbyterian Church. Prior to this, Katie worked for four years as both a hospital chaplain at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and a residential chaplain at Georgetown University. Katie also served as a Parish Associate pastor at Georgetown Presbyterian Church during these years.
Katie and her husband John moved to DC from Tallahassee, FL where Katie was a minister of congregational care at Faith Presbyterian Church, and a chaplain at Big Bend Hospice while John pursued his master’s degree at Florida State University.
In addition to their work, Katie and John love hanging out with their girls and doing anything outdoors. They dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail. Katie loves taking art classes, and John is always working on a friend’s film or writing one of his own. Above all, they love opening their home for a meal to friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and to anyone whom God brings into their fellowship.
