Speaker: R.V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel, U.S. House of Representatives and long-time member of National Presbyterian Church
Title: Destined for Glory
If we live long enough, we will be bereaved. When we have lived out our appointed years, we will die. These are “givens”, no matter how much our culture tries to deny them or hide from them. It is important for Christians to establish biblically-informed patterns of thought before death and bereavement strike. Christians have always believed that life was a preparation for death and the life beyond. It behooves believers to be ready to meet death. The death of a believer ought to be different than those who die without faith. This life is prelude to our destiny in glory beyond.
In spring 2023, R.V. Seep offered a Sunday morning class that addressed these issues at length. In this presentation, he will share personally his own personal experiences of grief and bereavement led him to explore this question, and the insights he learned that are so needed by followers of Jesus Christ.
R.V. Seep holds degrees in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, in Law from Duke University, and in Exegetical Theology from Western Seminary. He worked in the Office of Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1992 to 2022, which prepares and publishes the United States Code (the consolidation and codification by subject matter of the general and permanent laws of the United States). He became the Deputy Law Revision Counsel in September, 2008, and Law Revision Counsel in June, 2011. R.V. has served as one of our core Sunday morning teachers of adult classes since 2007. He and his wife, Dottie, have two adult children and four grandchildren, and reside near Annapolis, Maryland.
