Islam and the West: Promoting the Dialogue of Civilizations
Akbar Ahmed
The current state of relations between the West and the Muslim World is a point of vital concern and serious discussion in the public square. Ambassador Ahmed, Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies at American University and former Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland, presents the urgent need for interfaith dialogue today, in hopes of fostering bridge-building and understanding of the “other.” NOTE: Professor Ahmed’s poem, “What is it That I Seek,” which failed to play due to technical problems at the outset of his presentation, has been edited in to this video production of his presentation.
